Intake Coordinator

Adoptions Together is seeking an Intake Coordinator, who will be responsible for completing trauma informed intake and assessment services to children and families requesting pre and post permanency services through CFSA (Child and Family Services Agency) as well as providing adoption competent therapy to a small caseload. This position is also responsible for program reporting, data collection and other administrative tasks.

The Intake Coordinator is a full-time position with excellent benefits. The position will be primarily remote during the COVID-19 pandemic. Once the current health crisis improves, the position will be based at the agency office in Washington, DC with regular opportunities for telework.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field.
  • Must possess a professional license (LGSW, LICSW, LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-C) to provide clinical services in the District of Columbia and Maryland at the time of hire.
  • Experience providing therapy for children, youth, parents, and families with histories of trauma, attachment disruptions, adoption, guardianship and involvement with the child welfare system.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a therapeutic setting preferred.
  • Certification in TF-CBT or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.

Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality and timely services and engage families and children.
  • Proven ability to accurately understand the impact of attachment disruption, trauma, and diagnose emotional and behavioral impairments.
  • Ability to conduct thorough trauma informed assessments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of adoption/permanency competent counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with diverse populations of clients.
  • Highly organized and experienced managing client information, case notes, and reporting using an Electronic Medical Record System (EMR).
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and agency colleagues.
  • Ability to think and work independently, prioritize and problem solve.
  • Ability to work evenings.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, ensure that contact is made for all referrals within 48 hours and within 24 hours for cases that are considered urgent.
  • Conduct an Initial Assessment within 7 days to determine whether the family or individual meets the eligibility criteria, determine the areas of concern, and assign to a therapist.
  • Maintain tracking system of all referrals received, to include the disposition of those referrals, and follow up to the referral source within thirty (30) days of the outcome to ensure that the referral has been accepted, services are in place and the client's needs are being met.
  • Provide adoption competent, trauma informed individual and family therapy for a small caseload. Ensure that treatment planning and all required documentation is entered into the EMR timely and accurately.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and attend community events to promote the services available through Adoptions Together in the District of Columbia.

Each employee is required to complete (and maintain as necessary) a physical exam to include a TB test, a criminal background check in identified jurisdictions, and Child Protective Services Registries check in identified jurisdictions, and orientation training.
