Overview

Adoptions Together (AT) is seeking a Family Find Manager who will provide administrative, clinical, and operational oversight of the Extreme Family Find Project in Prince Georges County Maryland. This position will provide intensive case work, supervision, and consultation for achieving permanency and identifying permanence relationships for children and youth in the care and custody of the Prince Georges County Department of Social Services (PGCDSS). The Family Find Manager will also oversee daily casework services of the Family Find Specialists and Investigator and work collaboratively with the department and other providers to create solutions for achieving successful permanency for children and youth in foster care.

The ideal candidate will be a Licensed Social Worker (or related field) with five years of professional experience in a public agency, private agency, or institution. In addition, the Family Find Manager will have at least one year of work experience in an administrative, supervisory, or consultative capacity. The Family Find Manager will also be a team player who is creative and innovative, emotionally intelligent, ethical, and passionate about advancing the impact of a non-profit organization.

The Family Find Manager is a full-time position with excellent benefits. The position will be primarily remote during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the current health crisis improves, the position will be in-office at the PGCDSS office in Landover, Maryland with regular opportunities for telework.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree in social work (MSW) or related field.
  • Licensed in Maryland as a LMSW, LCSW or LCSW-C.
  • Five years of social work experience in a public agency, private agency, or institution.
  • At least one year of social work experience in an administrative, supervisory, or consultative capacity.

Preferred Skills

Possess specialized knowledge of child welfare system, including foster care, kinship care service, adoption and post-adoption issues, the adoption subsidy program, and the guardianship assistance program.

  • Passionate, take charge personality with high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to provide high quality supervision and support for case management services to children needing permanency.
  • Ability to manage complex cases/projects with a high degree of independence.
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate and facilitate team meetings and advocate for the children.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration between various service agencies and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with diverse populations of clients.
  • Highly organized and experienced managing client information, case notes, and reporting using a database.
  • Proven ability to adhere to contract deliverables and reporting standards for public and private partners.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and agency colleagues.
  • Ability to think and work independently, prioritize and problem solve.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and over all case supervision and consultation to the Family Find Specialist and Investigator to ensure that assessments and recommendations meet best practice child welfare standards and program guidelines.
  • Schedule and run weekly and monthly team meetings.
  • Provide intensive case management supervision services in keeping with accepted child welfare standards and social work practice and in accordance with the Extreme Family Finding model of practice.
  • Work with Extreme Family Finding team at Foster-Adopt-Connect for program replication and the University of Texas for evaluation.
  • Serve as point-person with the PGCDSS Extreme Family Find Project Team.
  • Carry a small caseload of youth in need of permanency.
  • Coordinate the intake and exit protocols and procedures.
  • Identify barriers and determine the most effective approach to achieving permanency.
  • Provide statistics information and written reports on activities for AT and PGCDSS as required.
  • Provide oral reports and handling information requests as needed.
  • Provide analysis and identification of current and future trends, progress and needs of the Extreme Family Find Project.
  • Assist with trainings and technical assistance to PGCDSS and other stakeholders to support smooth placements and permanency of children/youth in care.
  • As part of the team, consult with other project staff on cases, provide operational support, and develop and share effective strategies and best practice.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with AT, PGCDSS and other providers to address current and future issues affecting specific cases and the program's operations.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication with PGDSS and other providers, including regularly scheduled and other coordination meetings necessary to ongoing case management and program development.
  • Ensure projects and assignments are completed within established guidelines and agency standards.
  • Assist with rapid response on special cases as required.
  • Serve as member of the Adoptions Together Management team.

Each employee is required to complete (and maintain as necessary) a physical exam to include a TB test, a criminal background check in identified jurisdictions, and Child Protective Services Registries check in identified jurisdictions, and orientation training.
