Adoptions Together is seeking a dynamic part-time Clinical Supervisor to supervise our clinical staff in DC and surrounding communities.  Our clinical model emphasizes the power of connection and relationships as a central part of healing a history of trauma and disrupted attachment.

The strongest candidate will be an LICSW licensed professional who is adoption competent, attachment focused and trauma informed with a Master's Degree in Social Work and management experience in a clinical setting providing talk and play therapy to children and families.

The Clinical Supervisor will be responsible for providing clinical supervision to therapists (employees and contractors), providing clinical training, and guiding the organization's clinical direction. This position is also responsible for reporting and other administrative tasks. 

This Clinical Supervisor is a 20-hour per week position with full benefits, a very flexible schedule, and the opportunity to do some work remotely.  This role also has the option to have a caseload for additional pay if desired.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree in social work with clinical emphasis.
  • Licensed in District of Columbia to provide independent clinical services and supervision to social workers and other professional seeking clinical certification.
  • Experience with and understanding of treating trauma, attachment disruptions, and children with a history of being in foster care.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical supervisory experience in a therapeutic setting.

 Preferred Skills

  • Possession of excellent clinical skills for direct services and supervision of other clinical staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of adoption, foster care, trauma and attachment.
  • Experience administering and supervising talk and play therapy with individuals, children, and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to be comfortable and effective working with diverse populations of customers and clients.
  • Excellent knowledge of the standards and processes of effective clinical supervision and have demonstrated ability to implement the same.
  • Competency and experience utilizing databases for client information, case notes, reporting, etc.
  • Proven ability to accurate diagnose emotional and behavioral impairments, and to design, implement and improve treatment plans for clients struggling with permanency and attachment issues.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and agency colleagues.
  • Ability to think and work independently, prioritize and problem solve.
  • Certification as Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) supervisor preferred.

Additional Notes

Each employee is required to complete (and maintain as necessary) a physical exam to include a TB test, a criminal background check in identified jurisdictions, Child Protective Services Registries check in identified jurisdictions, and orientation training.

Role and Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Supervisor will provide weekly individual supervision and group clinical supervision for therapists, including those seeking clinical licensure and interns. Clinical supervision shall be provided in accordance with regulatory standards and Adoptions Together's policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular clinical consultation to therapists who are licensed at the clinical level.
  • Provide administrative supervision to all therapists to ensure that clinical case records are maintained in accordance with regulatory standards and Adoptions Together's documentation requirements. Case records for current therapy clients shall be audited monthly. Accurate, timely feedback about case records shall be provided to therapists and the Clinical Supervisor shall work with the therapists to ensure that deficiencies are corrected within one week of notice.
  • Serve as Clinical Supervisor for Trauma Systems Therapy (TST).
  • Train therapists and interns as necessary in treatment protocols, diagnostic assessment, interpretation, treatment planning, and documentation guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the intake worker, ensure that new cases are promptly assigned and that each therapist has a manageable caseload.
  • Recruit, hire and train new therapists, as needed, with the assistance of the Director of FamilyWorks Together and the Human Resources department.
  • Complete annual evaluations of each therapist in accordance with Adoptions Together's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and report required data and narratives as required by Director of FamilyWorks Together.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and attend community events to promote the services available through Adoptions Together and FamilyWorks Together.
  • The Clinical Supervisor must be available to work at least one evening per week to be available to clinicians who only have evening availability.
  • Provide other services as requested by the Director of FamilyWorks Together.
  • The clinical supervisor retains the option of taking on FamilyWorks Together clients as piecework to supplement their part time salary.
